Thank you for choosing to be a 'buddy' to a new international member of staff.
We want to make sure that our international colleagues are well supported on arrival in the UK and afterwards, to help them assimilate smoothly during their first months here at the University and to assist in the transition into a new academic and/or cultural environment
Buddies can be of any nationality but we will try to match colleagues by faculty and other common factors.
Our scheme guidelines can explain the buddy role and help you make sure that buddying is for you. If you have any questions the guidelines don't answer, please contact us at internationalhr@leeds.ac.uk.
Your privacy
This is an online platform which allows for the management and administration of a centrally coordinated buddying scheme. It provides an administrative interface for signup, management of scheme membership, creation of partnerships and reporting on stored data.
Your personal information will be held on this platform and will not be used for any purpose other than those stated above, neither will it be shared with, sold or rented to any third parties unless in response to lawful requests by public authorities, including to meet legal requirements, or if we believe, in good faith, that such disclosure is legally required or necessary to protect others' rights or to prevent harm.
We will retain your data for as long as you are a member of the buddy scheme. If you decide you can no longer contribute, we will erase your data.
