About this Survey, Privacy Notice and Consent

Thank you for your interest in this survey.

We are surveying tenants across Greater Manchester to find out more about your experiences of renting.

The survey is being undertaken by the University of Leeds as part of an international study that includes other cities in Europe and Latin America.

It is being conducted with the support of Greater Manchester Tenants Union (GMTU) who are administering the survey on behalf of the University of Leeds, but will not have access to your individual answers or identity. That means your responses will remain confidential to the University research team.

The findings of our study will be published in public reports and shared with policy makers in central and local government. Your identity will never be revealed.

The survey will take approximately 20 minutes to complete.

There are seven themed sections covering questions about: you and your home, your household, your landlord and tenancy, your housing conditions and experiences of making repair requests, your housing costs and affordability, previous home moves and evictions, and future expectations and intentions.

At the beginning of each section we briefly explain what information we are asking from you and why. Although not necessary, before you start, you might find it useful to have a copy of your current tenancy agreement and your most recent rent statement or invoice to hand.

The research has been approved by the University of Leeds ethics review committee (BESS+FREC:0664).

Participation in the research is voluntary and you can withdraw at any time during the survey. You can also withdraw your responses up to 15 January 2024  without having to give a reason by contacting Dr Stuart Hodkinson who is leading the renters' survey - s.n.hodkinson@leeds.ac.uk
